As part of our commitment in the Community Relations Service, we are
proud and excited to promote the best and fun places here in Region-1 this
summer. So are you ready to travel over, up to North? Here’s our personal
travel guide. The best places that Rehiyon Unos can offer.
Region 1 is popularly known as the “Ilocos or Ilocandia” district of the
country, and it is composed of 4 provinces, namely: Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte,
La Union and Pangasinan (Eastern and Western) and 8 component cities:
Alaminos City, Pangasinan, San Carlos City, Pangasinan, Urdaneta
City, Pangasinan, Batac City, Ilocos Norte, Candon City, Ilocos Sur, Vigan
City, Ilocos SurLaoag City, Ilocos Norte, San Fernando City, La Union.
Its regional center is San Fernando City, La Union. The region is
occupied 70% by Ilocanos and 28% by Pangasinenses. It is located in the
northwestern part of Luzon; bounded by Cordillera Administrative Region and
Cagayan Valley to the east, Central Luzon to the south and by the South
China Sea to the west.
Since the region is bounded by the sea on the west coast, most of the
beautiful beaches overflow and are sited in Bauang, La Union.

Bauang is also regarded as the Fruit Basket of the North as this town
produced in abundant numbers the most of the nutritious and delicious
tropical fruits, such as Guapple, Grapes, Dragon Fruits, Mangoes, Papaya,
others.
Who wants to see the most romantic sunset look in the North? Well, it’s
just here in San Fernando, La Union.

After roaming around the city heritage, this is the best “pagodreliever” – the sparkling dancing fountain of Vigan City. Opens every day
from 7-8 PM.
