Conventional super market : it is a self service food store offering groceries,
food and products with limited sale of non food items. for E.g. Big apple (tie up with farmers in haryana, rajasthan,HP and UP) Supercenters : supercenters provides a one-stop shopping experience. Customers will typically drive farther to shop at these stores than to visit conventional supermarkets. General merchandise items (non foods items) are often purchased on impulse when customers primary reason for coming to the store is to buy groceries. For E.g. Big Bazar Hypermarkets : very large in size, combination of food (60-70 %)and general merchandise (30-40%), could be called as superstore that combine a supermarket and department store. Warehouse clubs : A warehouse club is a retail store, usually selling a wide variety of merchandise, in which customers are required to buy large, wholesale quantities of the store's products, which makes these clubs attractive to both bargain hunters and small business owners. The clubs are able to keep prices low due to the no-frills format of the stores. In addition, customers may be required to pay annual membership fees in order to shop. For E.g. : Sam s Club in USA

For E.g. : Consumers can now walk into their neighborhood convenience stores and purchase all kinds of every day "Services" such as railway ticketing, mobile recharge, air ticketing, insurance payment, bill payment, bus ticketing, loan origination, movie ticketing and hundreds of other services which are in the pipeline.

Discount Stores : a discount store is a retailer that offers a broad variety of merchandise, limited services and low prices. Most stores have an extensive depth of stock in the item that they specify in and provide high levels of service and expertise. The pricing policy is generally in the medium to high range, depending on factors like the type and exclusivity of merchandise and ownership, that is, whether they are owner operated or a chain operation which has the advantage of bulk purchasing and centralized warehousing system.
