Serious accidents can be devastating -- emotionally and financially -- for everyone involved, including your
family. The worst part is that insurance companies seem to view you only as a statistic. Instead, the law firm
of Brotman Nusbaum Ibrahim (BNI) help real people solve their real problems on an individual basis and will
fight for your rights.

What Is Personal Injury Law?
BNI represents clients who have suffered serious injuries,
including emotional or personal injury or property damage,
from many different types of accidents due to negligence,
intentional torts, or strict liability torts. Most personal injuries
are due to negligence (where someone else was responsible
for your safety but failed), which unfortunately is the hardest
to prove. These involve things like slips and falls, motor
vehicles, and other injuries.
Personal injuries mean there will be pain and suffering, medical bills, lost wages, and other damages, so
you need to be, and you deserve to be, compensated for someone else’s carelessness. However, unlike
some other states, a judge or jury decide the verdict in Florida and damages are awarded based on the
percentage of fault. Insurance companies will try to prove that you are at fault, so BNI will work harder to
prove that you are not.

Successful Case Results
Hospital Malpractice: Spinal Epidural Abscess Resulting in Paraplegia
A client, an active 69 year old female who was admitted to a Central Florida hospital for severe neck pain,
underwent extensive evaluations to determine the source of her ailment. Two days later, hospital
employees charted that she was having neurological deficits, but failed to report these findings to the
doctors. When the deficits were noted by the doctors the following day, she was diagnosed with a cervical
spinal epidural abscess. However because of the delay, the opportunity for surgery (which would likely have
cured her) was closed and she was left with irreversible paraplegia. The hospital claimed that the findings
that were charted were not significant and surgery would not have made a difference. However the case
was confidentially settled for $2,500,000, which will provide the client with funding for medical and attendant
care for her lifetime.
Wrongful Death: 18 Wheeler Accident
A client’s husband was working on location in Deerfield Beach, Florida. While performing his usual job
duties of loading his company truck in the delivery area, he was struck and crushed by an 18-wheel delivery
truck from another company. The driver of the 18-wheel truck was backing up blindly and was unaware that
he had hit the client’s husband and his parked truck. The wrongful death claim, brought on behalf of the
surviving wife and two minor children, was confidentially settled for $1,900,000.
