DIRECTIONS TO MCALESTER FROM TULSA AIRPORT If your rental car is on airport you will exit around the parking area. At the first traffic light, Virgin St., Turn right under the underpass, then immediately Turn left, up the ramp, onto Gilcrease Drive. Then immediately exit to the right onto Memorial Dr. If you got a Thrifty Rent-a-Car, they will deliver it to you at the airport location indicated. Now to get to McAlester: Go South on Memorial about one mile to I-244 (Crosstown Exp.) Turn right (West) onto I-244 As you approach the downtown area (about 5 miles) you will have to keep moving left as traffic exits from the right lanes. You will pass a railroad switch yard on your right. Stay in the left two lanes. The expressway will fork. Take the left fork onto US-75. The signs may indicate Okmulgee, Henryetta, or Indian Nation Turnpike. At Henryetta, you will continue South onto the Indian Nation Turnpike (Cost - $1.50) Go past the first McAlester exit (mile marker 70 at US-270) Exit at the second McAlester exit (mile marker 63) This will be highway US-69. To get to the Army Ammunition Plant: On Highway 69, go about three miles and exit to the right at the large green sign “Army Ammunition Plant”. The front gate is under construction so follow the arrows to the security post. The guards will direct you to pass and tag where you need to complete paperwork for your visitor badge. You will need your driver’s license, registration and proof of insurance. To get to motels from Indian Nation Turnpike: Take the second US-69, exit North. Go about three miles and go right at the Y.
