In 2007, in a reversal, he then supported a national amendment to ban same-sex marriage on the federal level. Romney has touted Massachusetts health care reform, yet is against Obama health care; Romney now acknowledges that both reforms include individual mandates that may be unconstitutional. In 2006, Romney stated that illegal immigrants should be afforded a path to citizenship; Romney is now completely against it. When taking on the governorship of MA, Romney refused to sign a "no new tax" pledge and then raised taxes/fees seven times. Romney supported military involvement in Libya, specifically the bombing. He stated that Obama had been too soft on Libya until it was brought to his attention that Congress hadn't given permission for military action. Romney then stated that our presence there should only have been in a humanitarian capacity. Romney has also suggested in debates that he believes military action does not necessarily need to be preceded by Congressional approval. Gingrich supported Obama's individual mandates as well as Clinton's universal health care. Gingrich has suggested that the purchase of flex-fuel cars should be mandated to all Americans. Gingrich now states that he is against individual mandates, and makes specific reference to Romney Care, which actually modeled itself after a Gingrich health mandate model. Gingrich hired a company to create fake Twitter tweets to appear as if he had a broader following than he really did. While serving as Speaker of the House, 84 ethics charges were brought against him; he was fined $300k; charges were dropped just prior to Gingrich's resignation from the speakership. His first wife was his highschool geometry teacher. He met his second and third wives while having adulterous affairs while married to wives one and two, respectively. He recently converted to Catholicism; was committing adultery while investigating President Clinton's scandal with Monica Lewinsky. He bounced 22 checks during the Congressional banking scandal. He voted for a secret House pay raise and chauffeur service. Gingrich has failed to get on the ballot in MO, OH and his home state of Virginia, making it a statistical improbability for him to win the nomination unless he wins 2/3rd of the remaining states. Gingrich claims his infidelities were driven by "how passionately I felt about this country".
