The Acknowledgment
In this time of bereavement, we still say God is in
control. Keep praying for our family that God will
get the Glory from our lives. We the family would
like to acknowledge with deep gratitude the
expressions of love and concern towards us. Thank
you for every phone call, card, prayer, contribution
and hug. Your love and support kept us encouraged
during this time of our mom Virginia's Promotion
to Glory!
A special thank you to the team of Nurses and
Doctors at Davita Dialysis Norwood, Wellsprings
Nursing Center and Vitas Hospice., Social Worker
and friend Char and Elite Transportation Company
for going above and beyond the standard call of
duty. You all helped make life a little more
bearable!

Mom
There is a love that surpasses understanding
And that’s what you gave to me.
You encouraged and supported,
prayed for and with me
your love encompassed me in the womb
and in love you brought me forth.
You gave me all I’d need to be a recognizable force.
A legacy of love, nurturing and caring.
Strength through sickness and adversity
that’s what you were sharing.
You were selfless with your love,
you had tons of it to share.
I may not see your presence,
but in my heart you reside forever there
Not many people are granted their own superhero
tried and true
But Mom you were greater in life than any fantasy
character I know it to be true.
You showed insurmountable strength on more than
one occasion too
All that I am or ever dream to be I owe it all to you.
Thank you for sharing your life, values and essence
with me
Your spirit will forever shine through!
Love you always and forever.

Reflections of a Blessed Life
Virginia Lee Baker was born on July 12, 1942
in Russelville, OH to the late BC and Rosalein
Redd and joined them in her eternal rest on July
27th, 2015 at 09:10 am. She attended Russelville
High School and graduated class of 1960. In her
teenage and young adult years she held several
jobs cleaning and being a nanny for Cincinnati
families.
She married the late James W. Baker and moved
to Cincinnati taking pleasure in being a wife and
mother to four daughters born of this union.
Through the encouragement of various friends
she joined the workforce and embarked on a
career with the City of Cincinnati first working at
Rockdale Elementary School in the Social Skills
Development Program, where she worked with
and nurtured various children with social and
behavioral issues. Once the program became
defunct she took her skills to Northside Health
Clinic and then on to the Burnet Health Dept as a
Data Entry Clerk/Cashier and later retiring from
the City as a Dental Clerk. She also served as a
Union Steward for many years.
Virginia never met a stranger and was known for
discovering people’s life’s stories after a simple
chance encounter. She was a nurturer and was
generous with her love and caring ways. She
loved children and besides having four daughters
of her own she also fostered and always had an
open door for the many nieces, nephews and
cousins that were in the family. She filled
everyone’s hearts with love and stomachs with
the delicious meals she prepared for any and
everyone who asked.
She was a mother figure to many people young
and old and quick to offer words of
encouragement to anyone needing it. She was
extremely supportive to new dialysis patients and
often spoke to them and helped ease their fears
and concerns.
She was a country girl at heart and loved square
dancing, fishing and country music. When she
was no longer able to square dance, she traded
her cowboy hats for a slot machine handle,
socializing more than she gambled.
She loved her grandchildren and great
grandchildren and would tell stories of them
everywhere she went. She fought the good fight
and left a lifetime of love as her everlasting
legacy.

She was preceded in death by her parents BC and
Rosalein Redd, Sisters Louise Redd and Alice
Tarver and daughter Lora Baker.
She leaves to cherish her memory, brothers
William and James Redd; sisters Rosemary
Jackson, Wanda Reese (Curtis Sr.) and MaryLou
Childs; daughters Norita Baker, Rhonda Napier
(Jeff) and Micaiah Y’Hisrael; grandchildren
NaTeasia, Barbara, Vanessa, Reginald, Nadia,
Jeffrey, Cimerica, Jason, Joseph, NaKyla and
Jamiyah along with several great-grandchildren,
nieces, nephews and friends.
