'The War on Islam in Australian Universities: The Bogus ‘National Centre of Excellence for Islamic Studies (National Centre of Kufr)' exposes the realities behind this Centre. Introduction

W

hen Muslims For Peace (MFP) warned Muslims about the socalled ‘National Centre of Excellence for Islamic Studies’ in July 2007, writing that this Centre should more appropriately be termed a Centre of Kufr (Disbelief), this characterisation was greeted with howls of anger from the Modernist Muslim establishment, and wild accusations of ‘extremism’ were levelled at the author. In The War on Islam in the West: How the West Hopes to Eliminate Islam, MFP wrote: The principal aim of the Centre of Kufr is to train as many people as possible (especially future imams and sheikhs) in this deviation. Those who support this Centre, in any way whatsoever, assist this vile objective. Less than a year later, the truth on this matter is abundantly apparent. Its Directors call for secularism (the doctrine that the Laws of Almighty Allah have no relevance to daily life) with increased frequency, and several of the Centre’s leading figures are not even Muslims. Units studied at the Centre include 101.471: Women in Arabic and Islamic Literature, which supposedly uses Qur’an and Ahadith, then other literature, to examine how Islam impacts on women.

In reality, as will also be explained below, Muslims enrolled in this course have faced a barrage of propaganda in favour of lesbianism. The Holy Qur’an has been derided as supposedly misogynist. It has been asserted that Ahadith are simply hearsay accounts (so-called ‘Chinese whispers’) of statements of Prophet Muhammad (S). Students are taught that homosexuality ‘is neither condemned nor condoned’ by Islam and that hijab is not obligatory in Islam. The present essay will prove each of the claims made above. The analysis begins by putting the present discussion in context, with an examination of the Centre’s role and its leading figures. It will show who is really pulling the strings. It will be proven that the ‘National Centre of Excellence for Islamic Studies’ is truly a Centre of Kufr. It cannot be ‘reformed’ because it is only being faithful to its true nature.

n July 2006 the Australian Government announced a lavishly funded National Action Plan (NAP) to combat ‘extremism’ among Muslims. Since the 200607 Budget, a total of $160.6 million has been budgeted for new homeland security measures overall. NAP includes the establishment of a National Centre of Excellence for Islamic Studies at three universities (Melbourne, Griffith and Western Sydney). The Government is providing $7.9 million over four years to establish and run this Centre, which will aim to train ‘Australian imams’, ‘providing an important vehicle for the teaching of Islam in an Australian context’. The Government hopes that this Centre will ‘play a leadership role in exploring the place of Islam in modern society’ (Safeguarding Australia, 2006). Classes at the Centre for Islamic Studies began in 2007. The next step, the Australian Government hopes, will be the so-called state ‘licensing’ of these imams, and a few of the existing imams and sheikhs. This dream has already been expressed by Government spokespersons. By implication, the khutba to be read at Friday Prayers will also fall under Government control — that is, the control of the kuffar. The Government has not yet explained what it will do to imams and sheikhs who remain true to their religion and remain outside of the satanic system of state control. The Government will provide a further $2.9 million over four years (including $38,000 in capital funding in 2006-2007) ‘to assist the Muslim community plan for and respond to national security issues and incidents, and emergencies’. This measure will enable law enforcement agencies to penetrate the Muslim community, recruiting and co-opting cadre from it, who will ‘foster understanding of issues affecting the community within these agencies’ — that is, they will sell ‘security’ to

A further $15.1 million over four years will be provided for projects with State and Territory governments and community organisations and a National Emergency Call Centre and National Security Hotline, will be established, to enable the Government to keep track of Muslims who oppose its agenda (Safeguarding Australia, 2006). Why this sudden concern with monitoring Muslims? After all, the secular state authorities know that it is they who are the ones most likely to commit mass murder of innocent civilians (two World Wars, Hiroshima and Nagasaki alone, testify to that), and they are well aware who really perpetrated 9/11. They know that Islam opposes aggression and treasures peace. Every Muslim needs to grasp that there is absolutely nothing new about the current War on Islam. The Qur’an and the Seera of the Holy Prophet (S) demonstrate that, from the moment our Holy Prophet first testified to the Oneness of Almighty Allah, there has been a War on Islam. This war has assumed different forms throughout the ages — from attempts to buy off the first Muslims, right through to campaigns of harassment, psychological pressure, economic boycott, imprisonment, torture, assassination and outright physical war, such as the Crusades. This war varies in intensity from time to time and it is certainly revving up to new heights at present. And much worse is certainly to come. But there is nothing new about this war. The particular form this relentless war of the unbelievers takes has always been determined by concrete circumstances. This is also true today. In our Muslim lands, the stress is generally on physical methods of coercion by the Godless states, combined with a peculiar state-controlled neutered (shirk-ridden) ‘Islam’, which endorses every oppressive action by the Godless dictators ruling these lands.

In the West, as the MFP Essay The War on Islam in the West: How the West Hopes to Eliminate Islam (available free at the MFP Web site) has shown, physical repression definitely has its place, but the current emphasis is on more devious methods. The rulers of Western states pretend to be ‘tolerant’ of all Faiths, while pursuing determined, calculated programs to firstly ‘redefine’ Islam and to identify and enlist tame cat Muslim leaders and intellectuals whom they hope will do their bidding. Large rewards — in terms of status and ‘recognition’, but at times even financial (massive grants to compliant ‘Muslim’ organisations) — are forthcoming to those Muslim community leaders prepared to play the game of the kafiroun. The kafiroun make prodigious use of these collaborators, to all the better divide the Muslims, so as to advance their agenda. Some Muslims naively delude themselves that they are only being ‘intelligent’ by playing along with the schemes of the enemies of Allah (SWT). Some even imagine that their denunciations of so-called ‘Extremist Muslims’ bring ‘security’ to Muslim communities. This has been repeatedly proven to be a most dangerous illusion; the more that Muslim community leaders denounce other Muslims on behalf of the Godless state, the more that Muslim communities come under attack. The Godless states of the West ensure that their operations target not only so-called ‘Extremist Muslims’, but that all Muslim communities are demonised. Then, when this happens, the socalled ‘Moderate Muslim community leaders’ scratch their heads in wonderment! The Holy Prophet (S) warned those Muslims who play these treacherous games what their fate will be, telling us: ‘If anyone walks with an oppressor to strengthen, knowing that he is an oppressor, he has gone forth from Islam’ (Sunnat Baihaqi). The kafiroun, at least, know exactly what they are doing. They will never be content with even destroying Believing (so-called ‘Extremist’) Muslims but only with the 4

complete elimination of Islam and those who cling to it in any form. Today’s compliant tools of the West’s War on Islam (the ‘Moderates’) will themselves become the target in this war, when they have served their shameful purpose. And, if today the emphasis in the West is on psychological operations against Believing Muslims, subverting Islamic schools and mosques and on constructing networks of pro-imperialist Muslims, tomorrow physical repression of Believing Muslims will be on the agenda, if the Believing Muslims do not rally themselves to defend the Deen, and if they fail to seek the assistance of Almighty Allah for their peaceful efforts. The first step towards effectively and peacefully resisting the Godless agenda against Islam is to recognise the reality of the ceaseless war being waged against all Believing Muslims and the Deen of Allah (SWT). This is a step that is well overdue for many Muslims, who still cannot see that the so-called ‘National Centre of Excellence for Islamic Studies’ is arguably the Godless state’s sharpest weapon in its War against Islam and Muslims. This is clear, if we consider the track records of the individuals appointed to run this Centre and who is really pulling the strings.

Who runs the Centre of Kufr?

T

his ‘National Centre of Excellence for Islamic Studies’ is led by two CoDirectors: Professor Abdullah Saeed (University of Melbourne) and Dr. Mohamad Abdalla (Griffith University). Melbourne University’s Associate Professor Shahram Akbarzadeh has just been made Deputy Director of the Centre. Both the Co-Directors are notorious ‘Muslim Modernists’. (Shahram Akbarzadeh promotes ‘Modernism’, but is actually made of different stuff, as will be shown below.) ‘Modernist’ Islam asserts that the Holy Qur’an and Ahadith need to be ‘reinterpreted’, and this is reflected in Saeed’s and Abdalla’s works. Professor Abdullah Saeed One prominent example of this on Saeed’s part is his book Interpreting the Qur’an, which argues for ‘a more flexible approach’ to ‘interpreting’ the Holy Qur’an, based not on traditional Islamic scholarship (which he scorns as the ‘legalistic-literalistic approach’), but on a so-called ‘Contextualist’ methodology. This latter is defined as taking a ‘more flexible approach’ based on relegating the interpretations of the scholars to the dustbin of history (since the real meanings of the Qur’an from ‘the first/seventh century’ allegedly do not apply any more). Instead, he offers an approach that stresses ‘the contemporary concerns and needs of Muslims today’ (Saeed, 2005: 1). This lead him (Saeed, 2005: 2-3) to declare that much of fiqh is no longer ‘viable’. More recently (Saeed, 2008), he has praised the abandonment of Shar’iah ‘based on the foundation texts of Islam, the Koran [Qur’an] and traditions of the prophet’ (S) by Muslimmajority countries, hailing this as ‘bring[ing] them into line with contemporary concerns about gender equality and human rights’ (Saeed, 2008). According to Saeed (2008), Muslims in Australia can be arbitrarily divided into ‘three groups. Through this (unproven) assertion, 5

Saeed makes it appear that pious, practicing Muslims are weird, if not dangerous. Thus, Mumineen (the first group) are described as follows: The first group, very few in number, take a hardline position. They argue it is difficult to be a good, practising, committed Muslim in a Western country such as Australia, living under non-Muslim laws, because of the overall non-Islamic environment they are subjected to and the nonMuslim laws they live under. The Law of Almighty Allah is described as ‘classical Islamic rules and norms’, in order to convey the impression that it is somehow old fashioned, if not obsolete. Professor Saeed does not bother to show how his typology can be verified by any objective data. He simply mendaciously asserts it, in order to manipulate his readers towards his preferred ‘group’: The third group — which I would argue includes the vast majority of Muslims living in Australia — see no problem at all in living as good, committed, practising Muslims within a non-Muslim legal framework and among non-Muslims. This group believes there is no need for Muslims to follow classical Islamic law, including family law, if this is not in line with existing Australian law. For them, Australian law, including family law, is sufficient and just fine. Muslims in Australia, they argue, have the freedom to practise their religion and are equal before the law, with no discriminatory laws targeted against them. Indeed, he adds, given that in Australia the values of justice, equity and fairness are allegedly upheld for all, including Muslims, this ‘non-Muslim country is already Islamic’! As far as Saeed is concerned, in fact, the entire world could be under Godless secular law and everything would be fine, as long as

Muslims are allowed to pray and fast. Saeed therefore asserts: Islam is primarily a relationship between an individual and God, a relationship based on a set of ethicalmoral values and norms, and that this can be practised anywhere where there is religious freedom and justice. Apparently, Saeed has never heard of the deepening state attacks on Muslims in West. For him, Western ‘democracy’ is eminently more preferable to Islamic Law, that is, to legislation given to humanity as a mercy by Almighty Allah! The Godless West needs false scholars of Islam such as Professor Saeed, in order to attempt to convince young Muslims to progressively abandon their commitment to Allah (SWT) and His Holy Prophet (S). Saeed is paid handsomely to teach young Muslims that Islam is supposedly backward, and inferior to Western democracy, since it does not allow Muslims to simply follow their nafs as the West advocates. Such is the accursed role of ‘Modernist’ Islam. Dr. Mohamad Abdalla Dr. Mohamad Abdalla showed his colours when he addressed a Conference convened by the University of Western Sydney on 3 September 2007, for the purpose of promoting its Centre. In his presentation, he distorted the Qur’anic (2:143) prescription for Muslims to form an ’Ummat al-wassat (a just, balanced community), to mean an ’Ummah that abstains from opposing oppression. Indeed, Dr. Abdullah even suggested at the Conference that it was ‘discourteous’ to practically oppose oppression perpetrated by the Australian Government. Dr Abdalla sees no problem about Muslims killing other Muslims, provided they are in the employ of the Australian Government at the time. He is on record enthusiastically supporting Australia’s military wars against Islam: 6

Embracing events such as Anzac Day does not contradict Islamic teaching. Muslims have joined the Australian armed forces and received medals. Anzac Day events are not factors in inciting hatred. In fact, they can help Muslims and nonMuslims interact positively (Courier-Mail, 12 April 2007). Perhaps this is what is meant by ‘integration’? Shahram Akbarzadeh Associate Professor Shahram Akbarzadeh researches the politics of Central Asia and the Middle East, ‘political Islam’, and US relations with the Muslim world. He is Deputy Director of the Centre of Kufr. Akbarzadeh has only comparatively recently professed any sort of interest in Islam. His PhD concerned nationalism in the former Central Asian Soviet republics. He has never professed to be a Muslim (despite his name, and his birth in the Iranian city of Mashad). This is hardly surprising, since (until the collapse of the USSR), he was the Australian representative of an Iranian radical Marxist group, the Sazman-e Kargaran-e Engelabi-ye Iran/Rah-e Kargar (Organisation of Revolutionary Workers of Iran/Worker’s Voice). There has never been any indication that Akbarzadeh is a practicing Muslim. This has not prevented him from hastening to lend his voice to advocacy in favour of ‘Modernist’ Islam and his dishonest denunciation of the so-called ‘literalist approach’ — that is, authentic Islam, based on Qur’an and Sunnah. He agrees with his boss that ‘secular democratic laws may be called “Islamic”’ (Akbarzadeh, 2008) and demands that Islam change, in order to fit in with kufr: If Islam is a living religion, as Muslims believe it to be, then its laws and dictums need to evolve and keep up with the contemporary issues that face Muslims. If Islam is

a religion for all times, it needs to have a real and organic relevance to all times. It needs to be evolutionary and adaptive (Akbarzadeh, 2008). And, together with another academic advocate of Modernism, he writes elsewhere: Since the mid 19th century Muslim thinkers and scholars have been trying to create an Islamic democratic society in which Islamic principals (sic) and modernisation can go hand in hand. There is, however, still a long way to go, as an unlikely ‘coalition’ of religious traditionalists and authoritarian secular leaders are resisting change (Mansouri & Akbarzadeh, 2006: 2). In short, everywhere one looks in the public writings of these supposed scholars of Islam in control of the Centre of Kufr, one finds advocacy for Islam to adapt itself to kufr, and denunciation of pious Muslims striving to live by Qur’an and Sunnah as somehow irrelevant (and possibly authoritarian) dinosaurs. Muhammad Kamal Dr. Muhammad Kamal is another academic associated with the centre of Kufr. According to his University Web Page Kamal is a nihilist philosopher specialising, among other things, in utterly useless contemplative Sufism, in the nihilistic philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche and in the ‘ontology of Martin Heidegger’ (Kamal, 2004). The Nazi Heidegger accepted appointment by Hitler’s National Socialists as their first Nazi Rector of Freiburg University in 1933 due of his authoritarian views on higher education, argues Iain Thomson convincingly (2003: 515). Friedrich Nietzsche was even more important for Nazism. The Nazis welcomed Nietzsche’s pagan Aryanism, with its view of ‘Herrenmensch’, a new type of man who with his robber instincts was able to manipulate the masses and who was a law unto himself. Nietzsche’s book Thus Spake Zarathusthra climaxes with the grotesque myth of the death of God and the 7

birth of superman. Allah (SWT) says about such blasphemy: ‘[18.5] a monstrous word it is that comes out of their mouths; they speak nothing but a lie’. Nietzsche’s intellectual influence was essential to the esoteric, pagan-spiritual, ideology of the Nazi elite. Adolph Hitler kept a bust of him and in 1943 gave his works to Mussolini. The Nazis built a monument for Nietzsche in 1938 (Taha, 2005). (This is not to imply, of course, that Kamal is a Nazi; his politics is actually Kurdish nationalist fitna, strongly influenced by atheistic Marxism.) Several other academics at the Centre of Kufr do not even pretend to be Muslims.

The crucial role of the Centre of Kufr

M

any Muslims have developed in inferiority complex, having been convinced that the West’s distinguishing features are more sophisticated and superior to our own, Islamic, traits. They hold Western, non-Muslim, scholarly opinions to be of more significance than Eastern Muslim opinions. Dr. Ali Shari’ati (martyred in 1978) was familiar with this phenomenon and he wrote about it in the context of the imperial conquest of our Muslim lands. He explained how it was necessary for Western colonisers to first destroy the Muslims’ thoughts and feelings, before they could dominate their lives and countries: Europeans want to change eastern societies so that they can plunder our property, ride upon our thoughts and our feelings. They want to take the food from our mouths as well as to destroy our common sense values. Without destroying these things, they cannot take the food from our mouths; they cannot take our property. Thus we must first empty ourselves and leave our moulds. We must forget all of our human values and all of our traditions which were the very things which kept us upon our own feet. We must give these up and break them within ourselves. Once, empty‑headed with an impotent spirit, crippled and without content, we must become exactly like garbage cans which are filled with dirty and useless things and then are emptied. With the brain and the spirit of the East, they are doing this. They empty their contents. When they have no faith in anything, they have no intelligence or awareness so that they have no hero, they think their past is completely without value. When 8

they believe their religion to be empty and full of myths, they feel spiritual meanings to be old‑fashioned, reactionary and that way of life to be ugly and detestable. They either do not know themselves, their children and their spirituality or else they know it badly. So what form do they change? They come out empty and thirsty and in need of the orders of the exploiters. Whatever the exploiters want to pour into their interior, in whatever order they choose, they get to work plundering. It is because of this that they assign permanent slogans to plundering the East, emptying the minds of Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Iranians, Turks, Arabs, Blacks and Whites. All must take one form. They should only have one dimension. They must be consumers of Western economic products and have thoughts, but not think for themselves. Insistence upon old values, human values, tradition and religion which are full of meaning, close the way to the West and guard the East. Insistence upon traditional values stands like a watchtower with a strong spirit against the West. They defend Islam and independence. Foreignness does not penetrate. Moslems are overflowing with honor, spiritual meaning, values and pride. Their history, people, culture, faith and religious characteristics give them independence, greatness and something to hold their heads up high for. They see the Westerners as nouveau riche and newly civilized. They criticize them, humiliate them and confront them. But the West falls upon the soul of the Easterners like termites. Little by little they empty out the contents. They even destroy all of the forces of resistance which

remain. In place of the brave guardians of the watchtowers, full of spirit and pride, they build a people empty of common sense, perseverance and pride. The Easterners even [go] forward to meet the enemy. They take whatever the West gives and do whatever they want them to do. They become exactly as Westerners had willed they would be (Shari’ati, nd). Since then, the devastation of our lands by the Godless West has forced millions of our people to immigrate to Western Europe, North America and Australia. The West’s Godless capitalists now use the same techniques to manipulate the minds of the immigrated Muslims — especially our youth. Now in the developed lands, as well, the Godless West falls upon the souls of the Muslims, emptying the contents and replacing them with rubbish — globalised, soulless monoculture: the ‘sex and drugs and rock’n’roll’ of Ian Dury’s appropriately named band The Blockheads: Sex and drugs and rock and roll, Is all my brain and body need, Sex and drugs and rock and roll, Are very good indeed. Keep your silly ways or throw them out the window, The wisdom of your ways, I've been there and I know, Lots of other ways, what a jolly bad show, If all you ever do is business you don't like. Sex and drugs and rock and roll, Sex and drugs and rock and roll, Sex and drugs and rock and roll, Is very good indeed… Traditional Islamic values are a barricade against such mental, spiritual and physical conquest; that is why the West must demolish them. Our youth, especially, must develop an inferiority complex — be convinced that Divine values are ‘old fashioned’: ‘we’re in 9

the 21st century, man!’ Qur’an and Sunnah (so-called ‘classical Islamic rules and norms’) must be relegated to dusty shelves, as Muslims are brainwashed to reject what Abdullah Saeed ridicules as the ‘legalisticliteralistic approach’. Qur’an and Sunnah need to be replaced with a ‘more flexible approach’, based on relegating the interpretations of the scholars and Islamic fiqh to the dustbin of history. Our youth must become content to live their lives entirely by Godless secular Western norms, as long as they pray and fast, since ‘Islam is primarily a relationship between an individual and God’ (Saeed, 2005: 1-3 & Saeed, 2008). This can even include joining Western armies and killing other Muslims! (Dr. Mohamad Abdalla, Courier-Mail, 12 April 2007.) The enemies of Islam are experts at what they do — which is why they currently dominate the world. They are very experienced and extremely patient. They know how to start off small, and work patiently, little by little, to corrode religious belief and practice. Once pious Muslims can become increasingly formalistic in fulfilling their religious obligations, once this Modernist Cancer starts taking a grip on them. And there is always the excuse at hand for such deluded souls to deceive themselves with: ‘Professor X is very learned, he says “do this”, so it must be OK!’ Indeed, well aware that they are incapable of fulfilling their mission by themselves, the enemies of Allah (SWT) seduce certain ‘Muslim community leaders’ as their mouthpieces. These wretches do the talking, but it’s the dollar pulling the strings. The kufar prize ‘Islamic Thinkers’ whom they have won to their side, praising them highly in public and remunerating them handsomely. They make very good use of such types. The enemies of Almighty Allah know that every ‘Modernist’ deviation they can infuse is a step towards their final victory: the eventual total abandonment of praying and fasting. Step-by-step, the Modernist Cancer moves to this outcome. After all, when Faith, Belief and Morality are corroded from within, why bother bobbing up and down five times a day

or starving oneself for a month? ‘We’re in Australia, mate!’ This moral and spiritual corruption wreaks tremendous psychological damage on our youth when it is allowed to flourish, resulting in them being alienated from the Deen of Almighty Allah. Having destroyed the Muslims’ thoughts and feelings, they can now dominate their lives. This is nothing less than a War on Islam: ‘[2.217] and they will not cease fighting with you until they turn you back from your religion, if they can’. Everywhere this war has many dimensions, including a psychological one, as indeed all wars have always had. In the West, the psychological aspect is currently the main component of the War on Islam — which is why the US RAND Corporation, one of the world’s major imperialist ‘think tanks’, has written the most significant strategy papers for the enemies of Islam, explaining in intricate detail how to destroy Islam and Believing Muslims. RAND stresses: ‘Carefully targeting psychological operations’ (Rabasa et al, 2004: 60-67). Hence the so-called ‘National Centre of Excellence for Islamic Studies’. Centre of Kufr teaches: Islam endorses Lesbianism!

And this is precisely what is now beginning to unfold. For, in their arrogance, the enemies of Almighty Allah have fallen into the trap of showing exactly how contemptuous they are of Qur’an and Sunnah, by employing an internationally prominent advocate of lesbianism as a Lecturer in the Centre of Kufr. Dr. Samar Habib takes the Centre’s course 101.471: Women in Arabic and Islamic Literature. Muslim students enrolled in this subject have already expressed their dismay at the thoroughly unprofessional, biased and frankly anti-Islamic character of teaching in this Unit. The following is the Course Description of this Unit: Beginning with “Nisa”— the chapter of the holy Quran dedicated to women — and a collection of pertinent ahadith, this unit focuses on the impact that Islam’s philosophy has had on various Muslim and Arab cultures by examining literature from throughout the Arabo-Islamic civilization. Students are introduced to a variety of interpretations of the role of women in Islam and how these interpretations are reflected in literary and non-literary texts. Students learn to detect the tremendous influence that Islam has had on Arabic texts and cultures, even those which at first appear to be of a secular nature. According to the Unit Outline, subject matter in this course is supposedly sweeping in nature, examining the representation of women in the Holy Qur’an and Ahadith. Yet, Muslim students report that the lectures and readings of this course are not scholarly texts, but overwhelmingly personal reminiscences by individuals aggrieved with Islam. The Holy Qur’an and Ahadith are derided as supposedly misogynist. In class discussions about the Ahadith, Dr. Habib has asserted (without proof) that Ahadith are simply hearsay accounts of statements of Prophet Muhammad (S).

his is indeed a grim picture for Muslims to face up to — and it is, in fact, much worse than has been described so far. Yet we must not conclude that the enemies of Almighty Allah will succeed. Allah (SWT) has promised the Believing Muslims that their pious efforts to unmask and resist the Unbelievers’ schemes will be richly rewarded by Him: [8.30] And when those who disbelieved devised plans against you that they might confine you or slay you or drive you away; and they devised plans and Allah too had arranged a plan; and Allah is the best of planners.

This is shown, for instance, by her lecture on 3 February 2008 in Haifa in Israel, at the invitation of the leading Palestinian Lesbian advocacy organisation ‘Aswat’. This meeting also saw the launch of an Aswat book My Right to Live, to Choose, to Be: A Collection of Literal Texts Written by Arab Lesbian Women. Aswat describes the purpose of Dr. Habib’s lecture: Dr. Samar Habib, a Palestinian researcher and writer, from the University of Western SydneyAustralia, is joining us to acknowledge this groundbreaking work by Aswat (Queer Muslim Revolution, 2008). Aswat openly describes itself on its Website as a lesbian advocacy organisation, declaring: We are a group of Palestinian Gay Women. Our group includes lesbians, gay women, bi-sexuals, transexuals and transgenders, queers, questioning and inter-sex (LGBTQI) (Aswat, 2005). And: Programs in Advocacy, Outreach and Education through our publications, such as the first book of Aswat “Home and Exile in Queer Experience: Collection of Articles about Lesbian Homosexual Identity”, also through various media stages and other educational programs such as the first Educational Seminar that we held together with AlQaws and Baladna for young activists (Aswat, 2008). Dr. Habib has even written an introduction to a translation of an erotic lesbian novel ‘on Lesbian Desire in the Middle East’. Centre of Kufr Lecturer Samar Habib teaches: • Lesbianism is halal in Islam; • Hijab is not obligatory in Islam; • Ahadith are ‘Chinese Whispers’; • Muslim scholars can be ignored, since they are males.
The works of widely accepted Muslim scholars are ignored since, Dr. Habib tells students, they are males. Homosexuality and lesbianism are represented as acceptable in Islam and students are taught that ‘hijab is not obligatory in Islam’. In other words, after refusing to honestly come to terms with Islam’s teachings on these matters in Qur’an and Ahadith, Islam is then grossly misrepresented. The issue of lesbianism is being used to facilitate advocacy of radical feminist and radical lesbian political agendas, instead of addressing broader issues and encouraging a genuine spirit of enquiry. This Unit does not genuinely contribute to knowledge about Islam’s teachings (a supposed aim of the Centre), but actually promotes hatred of Islam’s teachings. Dr. Habib appears both incapable and unwilling to impart Islam’s teachings relevant to this course — which is not surprising given her openly stated views and her transformation of the classroom into a platform for her bizarre views. She is not so much a scholar as an internationally renowned advocate for lesbianism. 11

And all this is ‘excellence’ in ‘Islamic Studies’? Clearly not — although it is undoubtedly utter kufr.

Global campaign for so-called ‘queer Muslim revolution’ Islam’s stand on homosexuality and lesbianism has never been in doubt. Allah (SWT) states: [7.80] And (We sent) Lut when he said to his people: What! Do you commit an indecency which any one in the world has not done before you? [7.81] Most surely you come to males in lust besides females; nay you are a transgressing people. And: [26.165] What! Do you come to the males from among the creatures. [26.166] And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. And the Holy Prophet (S), in a well-known Hadith, said: ‘Four types of people awake under Allah’s anger and go to bed under Allah’s displeasure’. Those who were listening asked: ‘Who are they, Messenger of Allah?’ He replied: ‘Men who imitate women, women who imitate men, those who have sex with animals, and men who have sex with men’.

Homosexuality and lesbianism are condemned as abominations in Islam. It is surely a sign of age of fitna in which we are living that these abominations are now overwhelmingly regarded as acceptable and even ‘normal’ in Western societies. Schoolteachers can even face disciplinary action for deprecating these perversions! The Department of Education and Youth Affairs in the State of New South Wales in Australia even convened a conference in mid-April 2008 on so-called ‘sexual diversity’ entitled 12

That’s So Gay, under the pretext of combating ‘homophobia’. NSW Education DirectorGeneral Michael Coutts-Trotter opened the conference. Schools are coming under pressure to provide lessons for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students and fill their libraries with books and DVDs promoting homosexuality and lesbianism. Among the homosexual and lesbian movement’s demands are the outlawing of comments deprecating homosexuality and lesbianism by teachers or students, and a requirement for teachers to receive so-called ‘diversity training’. The NSW Federation of Parents and Citizens’ Associations has called for ‘appropriate literacy materials promoting diversity in families’. Same-sex ‘attraction issues’ are already part of students’ lessons. A 25-hour course, mandatory for all Year 11 and 12 students in government schools, examines ‘issues relating to sexuality and sexual diversity’. Sydney’s Mardi Gras receives extensive inkind support from the City of Sydney, that its organisers say is essential. And one of Australia’s largest gay and lesbian events, the State of Victoria’s Midsumma Festival, has received Government funding of $21,500. Modernism has already made so many inroads among Muslims that some are even joining such movements — which are promoted and funded by the enemies of Almighty Allah, including the Zionists. The so-called ‘Al-Fatiha Foundation’ was established in October 1998, with branches in London and North America. Al-Fatiha’s mailing list reportedly covers over 1,800 subscribers. This is only the most well-known such organisation. These include The World Congress of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Jews: Keshet Ga’avah. The World Congress consists of around 50 member organizations in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Mexico, The Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States. According to its Website: ‘The Hebrew subtitle Keshet Ga’avah — Rainbow

of Pride — emphasizes the importance of Hebrew and of Israel to the World Congress’.

The World Congress supported an event in San Francisco recently that raised $US17,000 for a so-called ‘gay Muslim’ outfit misnamed ‘Halal Films’, that produced a prohomosexual film blasphemously named In the Name of Allah. The film addresses ‘the hidden lives and daily struggles of gay Muslims all over the world’. The so-called Halal Films’ Web site reveals the deceptive Modernist methodology of these evildoers: The international chorus of gay, lesbian, and transgender Muslims brought together by In the Name of Allah doesn’t seek to vilify or reject Islam, but rather negotiate a new relationship to it [i.e., incorporating haram abominations]. In doing so, 13

the film’s extraordinary characters point the way for all Muslims to move beyond the hostile, war-torn present, toward a more hopeful future. A ‘Gender and Militarism’ seminar was organised by the Israeli Zionist-feminist ‘Coalition of Women for Peace’ and Israeli Zionist-feminist ‘New Profile’ movement on 23-26 August 2007 in Israel. This reportedly involved a number of Muslims, including Ayşe Gül Altınay, Mehmet Tarhan and Ferda Ülker, all from Turkey. The seminar’s purpose was to show that ‘anti-militarism’ requires feminism and acceptance of homosexuality and lesbianism. Naturally, it is still necessary to maintain the racist, Godless, state of Israel, of course; to oppose this would be ‘terrorism’!

It is not surprising that Zionists, feminists, lesbians and homosexuals club together to promote evil. When one takes into consideration abominations such as the Gay Mardi Gras, the Midsumma Festival and compulsory school classes promoting lesbianism and homosexuality, this is only part of a deepening trend in today’s global Age of Fitna. But it is surely disgraceful that Muslims join them in this. And it is absolutely sickening that a so-called ‘National Centre of Excellence for Islamic Studies’ provides miseducation in the name of Islam that spiritually and morally disarms young Muslims, by teaching that lesbianism and homosexuality are acceptable before Almighty Allah. It is also completely in line with the global fitna being orchestrated by the enemies of Almighty Allah.

Conclusion Muslims For Peace has been one of the very few Muslim voices consistently opposing the establishment and operation of this Centre. We have warned that its principal aim is to train as many people as possible (especially future imams and sheikhs) in the ‘Modernist’ Islam deviation. And we have explained that those who support this Centre, in any way whatsoever, assist this vile objective. We have added that this Centre only seeks to dull the taqwa of the Believing Muslims and divide the ‘Ummah of Almighty Allah. And we have cautioned Muslims collaborating with the schemes of the kafiroun against Muslims, that they surely risk themselves ending up kafiroun. As the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S) said: If anyone walks with an oppressor to strengthen, knowing that he is an oppressor, he has gone forth from Islam (Sunnat Baihaqi). For all these reasons, Muslims For Peace has taken the clear stance of complete opposition to this Centre and argued that Muslims must have absolutely nothing to do with this project, which is a central rampart of the War on Islam. Some Muslims have argued fatuously that we only have ourselves to blame, if we fail to ‘engage’ with such schemes, and projects such as the National Centre are then unfriendly to genuine Islam. MFP responded that it was: the height of naivety to imagine that individual Muslims can ‘influence’ the Centre of Kufr, since this deadly (to Muslims) Centre can only be understood in the framework of the ongoing — and visibly deepening — War on Islam. It is a vital part of that War. The handful of Muslim academics in Australia will never change the essential character of a Centre dedicated to kufr. But (irrespective of the individual piety of some who might decide to work 15

for them) they will be used to give ‘halal’ credentials to this Centre of Kufr. If Mumineen join their team, the Centre would be able to point to them as ‘proof’ that it is doing ‘good work’. In other words, despite ‘good intentions’, the end result would be to provide a smokescreen for this 101% kafir operation to do its work. Almighty Allah tells us explicitly that our only duty is to warn people of the consequences of defying Him, and to leave the rest up to Him. If the good advice of those upholding the Deen is not heeded, we should turn away from them: [51.54] Then turn your back upon them for you are not to blame. And: [6.106] Follow what is revealed to you from your Lord; there is no god but He; and withdraw from the polytheists. In its very short period of operation so far, the ‘National Centre of Excellence for Islamic Studies’ has proven conclusively that it is indeed the National Centre of Kufr. It is the spearhead of the War on Islam in Australian Universities. Muslims For Peace therefore calls upon all Muslims associated with this accursed Centre, at whatever level — academics, administrators, students or whatever — to immediately disengage from the Centre. Anyone can make mistakes — it is part of the human condition to err. But now the wicked nature of this Centre should be crystal clear for all to see; for the sake of their Akhira, Muslims should fear Almighty Allah and break all connections with this diabolical Centre of Kufr. We further, with respect, urge our beloved and influential sheikhs and ’Ulema to break their silence and lend their support to this call for all Muslims to break from the odious Centre of Kufr. And Allah (SWT) knows best.
