FASHION MEETS
OUR FUTURE
BEGINNING AUGUST 22-24
"For all the prosperity in
Columbus, not everybody is
sharing in it. We will not truly
fulfill our promise as a city,
until we share our success
with all our residents.”
—Mayor Michael Coleman
FASHION
Columbus is home to several of the world’s most
recognized national and international fashion brands
like L Brands. According to Fashionista, CCAD is one
of the top 10 fashion schools in the country. The
Atlantic ranked Columbus the third best city in the
United States for fashion design based on total
number of designers and median income.

MAKERS
Columbus Idea Foundry is the “planet’s largest
makerspace” empowering entrepreneurs, fabricators,
inventors, prototypers, designers, craftsmen, artisans
& artists to make. Made Magazine called it the “most
active” makerspace.

TECHNOLOGY
Columbus was ranked the eighth-best city for tech
jobs in the country in 2012, placing higher than other
cities in Ohio and the region.

volunteers, etc.

workspace, companies willing to mentor our Civic Heroes,
branding and marketing, accounting, professional services, and
networking opportunity resources.

Volunteers: We need volunteers on August 22-24 to make sure
that the event runs smoothly. We welcome single volunteers or a

Civic Heroes Hatchery
Our seven winning teams -- Civic Heroes -- will be eligible to
participate in the world’s first community-built accelerator
program.
Over six weeks teams will receive resources, knowledge, and
experiences to empower them to achieve a mission of
measurable change.
Through event ticket sales and partnerships, we are able to
provide a grant for each winning team, services like space to
work, branding packages, hosting, online training, makerspace
memberships, and more.
The Civic Heroes Hatchery will start with a Runway Show&Tell at
FMMF on August 31 and conclude at COSI on October 11.
