http://www.nasa.gov/audience/forstudents/html Age 8-10 Science&Space To know some characteristics of our solar system, and specially our planet Earth. Planets, the Earth and their basic conducts in the Space.

Procedure: 1.- Pre-computer a. Ask children about what do they know about the space, universe, planets,... b. Ask them for the names of the planets of our solar system. c. We will see some images of different parts of the Earth on http://visibleearth.nasa.gov/ and of our solar system, directing our students to http://solarsystem.jpl.nasa.gov/planets/profile.cfm?Object=SolarSys

2.- Online a. Using the last web site visited, we all will compare the sizes of the planets by clicking on the hyperlinks related to each planet, so children must bear in mind that our planet is not the biggest planet in the Univers. We could make questions as how many Earths would you need to fill up Jupiter? b. After seeing the different images of the Earth we weill ask the students to make a drawing of the whole planet chossing one of the images we just have seen on the website. We can see some examples in http://solarsystem.jpl.nasa.gov/multimedia/gallery.cfm?Category=Kids&Object=Earth . 3.- Post computer a.- In order to prepare the last part of the lesson plan, students should design the planets of our solar system (one for each) considering their size, the sun, and some satelites, depending on the number of children in our class. Then, we will divide the class in two groups and eah group will go out in front of their partners to represent the order of the planets in the solar system and also their orbit around the bigger one, the sun. b.- We will make a review of the most important contents in order to check if children have understood them. We will do this by completing a worksheet and then revising all together the answers aloud.
