You’re Joe Rivers, the best man. You’re a plumber. You know that the groom has been arrested before and often gets into trouble.

You’re Wilson, a business partner of the groom’s father. You don’t trust his family because you think they’re all dishonest, and you feel there’s also something strange about the bride.

You’re Liam/ Leila Smith, a friend of the groom’s family. You know that they’re broke, the groom’s father has not always worked legally. But, fortunately the bride’s rich!

You’re Mia Turner, the maid of honor, and the bride’s best friend. You know that she was secretly engaged to your brother for many years and have just broken up.

You’re Mrs. Sarah May, the groom’s granny. You love him, but are seriously worried about his drinking problems

You’re Charlotte Ricks, a very good friend of the groom’s father –in fact, you’re his secret girlfriend (don’t tell anyone). You work as a striptease dancer. The bride has been studying thanks to your generous contribution.

You’re Sam Scott, a close friend of the groom’s. You know that the groom’s parents have just separated

You’re Audrey Ross, you’re a friend of the bride’s and a model. You know the bride has the habit of shoplifting everywhere she goes.

You’re Keira/Keith Harris. You know how much your friend the groom loves partying. He’s had a never ending list of girlfriends.

You’re Hannah Evans, a friend of the bride’s mother. You know that her father has a secret girlfriend, a beautiful young girl who works in the world of fashion.

You’re Mae Biggs, a school friend of the groom’s. You remember how lazy he always used to be

You’re Jess Sanders, one of The bride’s neighbours. You’ve always hated her in secret, it’s your time to spoil her wedding criticizing her a lot

This is a mingle activity for oral interaction. Students practice small talk as they share wedding secrets.

WARMER
THE Teacher introduces who’s who at a wedding (bride, best man, groom, maid of honor, …) Tell your class that this is a wedding party and all have been invited to it. They’re all guests. Give each one a role card that must be read individually. Students stand up and mingle. Each one is assigned a role card and they first introduce themselves as well as greet the rest of guests. They must know that they’re quite far away from the bride and groom and their parents. They can begin gossiping then, sharing their “secrets”, thus showing surprise, anger, reacting to other guests’ comments. When they’ve finished, they can sit down and talk about their findings.
