History shows that God waited for one thing to happen before he carried out his word. So now, let us take a look at what held him back before and now. Methuselah was the oldest recorded man in the bible. He died in the year of flood and was the grandfather of Noah (Gen 5:18-32). Dr. Henry Morris says his name may mean, "When he dies, judgement." On the day he died the flood came and destroyed them all. Methuselah is an example of God's patience, because God delayed the Flood until his death, the oldest man to live. He was the living patience of God. 1 Peter 3:20-21 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the long suffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. The like figure where unto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Why did God want to destroy mankind? Because every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. He himself had created men, who's heart turned to evil all the time, and he was grieved because he had made them. We see here God is displeased by sin. Gen 6:5 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. It is only when we come into the sanctuary of God, and we see the end of such sinners. Then we understand why God created a hell and a heaven. God is Pure, Holy, and Just. Will not the Judge of all the earth do right? (Genesis 18:25) The father of Methuselah was Enoch, who walked with God, then he was no more, because God took him away (Genesis 5:24). Hebrews 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. Just as before the flood, God delayed his judgement, so that people could repent, even now he delays his judgement on this present world, so that people can repent and be baptized in his name, so as not to perish. Have you ever wondered why the Second Coming seems delayed? Surely it is so that all people in the world can have a chance of hearing the gospel and so be saved. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. It is not as though, those destroyed by the flood had no warning. They had Noah who preached righteousness. 2 Peter 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly. But in our day, many despise the preachers of righteouness, just as they did. They shut their eyes and ears, remaining willingly ignorant. Many prefer darkeness to light. "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die." God delays his final judgement, so that all people can hear the gospel then believe to repentance and being baptized, in doing so be saved. Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. Mark 16:15-16 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall

be damned. Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Romans 6:3-5 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection. Galatians 3:26-29 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Ephesians 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism. As in the days of Noah, people were eating and drinking and marrying, then they were suddenly destroyed by the flood. It will be the same at the Second Coming (1 Thessalonians 5:3 ) Mat 24:37-39 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. In our day people come and say that God does not prevent the evil in the world. They say that if God is a good God, then he can prevent the rape, torture, and killing of innocent people. However this ignores the fact that there he created all with a free will, to choose between good and evil. And that there will be a day of judgement in which evil people will be judged and consigned to hell. Without a day of judgement then human suffering would seem pointless, evil people get away with evil, but there will come a day when they will have to give an account of themselves to God. 2 Peter 3:3-7 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. There will come a point when every mouth will be stopped and the whole world held accountable to God Romans 3:19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. The wheels of justice grind very slowly, just as they did in Methuselah's day. However they grind slowly because God does not want the wicked to perish. God does not delight in the death of the wicked. Ezekiel 18:23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?

Fortunately, God delights in showing mercy. But to the unbelieving, fearful, and the disobedient, they will suffer the wrath of a righteous God. 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power. Micah 7:18-19 Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. Some say that Methuselah's name means "his death shall bring". Methuselah lived longer than his son Lamech. The names that were recorded as Seth's descendants are actually very specific. Here is something that is interesting... Adam means MAN Seth means APPOINTED Enosh means MORTAL Kenan means SORROW Mahalalel means BLESSED GOD Jared means SHALL COME DOWN Enoch means TEACHING Methuselah means HIS DEATH SHALL BRING Lamech means DESPAIR Noah means RELIEF When all we put those words together one can see that it was all planned out from the very beginning. Why did God keep Methuselah living so long? God was mercifully waiting for his people to turn to Him again; Methuselah's name is a WARNING for what is to come if people didn't turn from their sins. That's why Methuselah lived so long (969 years) until God took his life away and that is when the flood began. By the way, the flood did really happen. Sin came before death, and death is the price we all have to pay for it unless we believe and are baptized in his name, (Jesus') as he alone washes our sins away. Salvation is on his terms and so must be according to his words, which mirror the will of God. There are many who accept substitute plans and they themselves will be cast away being workers of iniquity. Now the previous event of a worldwide flood cannot be a myth. If so, explain the 250 plus stories of the flood myth all over the world that are similar (the details about 8 survivors match) to the original Noah's ark story. To sum it all up: Many believe that Methuselah's name meant: When he dies a judgment comes, his death shall bring, or when he is dead, it shall be sent. What was sent? The Flood. And as long as he lived the Flood could not come. Methuselah died in the year that the Flood came. As Methuselah lived longer than any other person because God kept him here just to let mankind know that He's patient and merciful. What keeps God from returning today is for all the world to hear the true Gospel, that has to be preached before the end comes. Yes, nearly all the world has heard the false message of the trinity and the so-called Sinner's prayer for salvation. If this was the real Gospel he would already returned. But it is evidently not, as we wait for him still.
