A Study on Women on Investment Decisions in Coimbatore


Today, women control nearly a third of the world’s wealth and are on track to out-earn men by 2024. But often, women’s risk tolerance, investment goals and objectives are informed by very different values and expectation A preponderance of research suggests that women soon will be driving the global economy In the United States, women outnumber men on college campuses and have recently surpassed men in earning advanced degrees – among adults 25 and older, 10.6 million women have master’s degrees or higher compared to 10.5 million men, the latest U.S. Census data show.

Woman’s Investment

Investment is the activity, which is made with the objective of earning some sort of positive returns in the future.

It is the commitment of the funds to earn future returns and it involves sacrificing the present investment for the future return.
Every person makes the investment so that the funds he has increases as keeping cash with himself is not going to help as it will not generate any returns and also with the passage of time the time value of the money will come down.

Investment Definitions

In finance, the purchase of a financial product or other item of value with an expectation of favorable future returns. In general terms, investment means the use money in the hope of making more money. In business, the purchase by a producer of a physical good, such as durable equipment or inventory, in the hope of improving future business.

Research Methodology
The system of collecting data for research projects is known as research methodology. The data may be collected for either theoretical or practical research for example management research may be strategically conceptualized along with operational planning methods and change management.

Research can be defined as the search for knowledge, or as any systematic investigation, with an open mind, to establish novel facts, usually using as scientific method. The primary purpose for applied research (as opposed to basic research) is discovering, interpreting, and the development of methods and systems for the advancement of human knowledge on a wide variety of scientific matters of our world and the universe.

Research Design
All the work has been covered as a part of descriptive research. The major purpose of the descriptive research as the name suggested it to describe the characteristics of population or a phenomenon
Sampling Sampling is a process of obtaining information about the entire population by examining only a part of it. The convenience sampling which is non-probability sampling method is used to draw the area. In which the research is carried on. The respondents from that area were drawn out with the convenience sampling

Data Collection
Primary Data:
The primary data are those, which are collected afresh and for the first time. And thus happened to be original in character. Secondary Data The secondary data on the other hand, are those, which have already been collected by someone else and which have already been passed through the statistical processes. When the researcher utilizes secondary data then he has to look into various sources from where he can obtain them. From e.g. Books, magazines, newspaper, Internet, publications and reports.


46% of working women’s are below 30yrs in Coimbatore.
58.66% of working women’s are married. 37.33% of working women’s are Pg. graduate.

56% of working women’s are mostly private salaried.
76.67% of working women’s said that their annual income was below Rs.200000/-.

58.66% of working women’s said that they spend 25% of their income as investment.

54% of working women’s said that there are dependents 1-3.
41% of working women’s said that they preferring home purchase. 68% of working women’s said that their purpose behind your future savings. 52.67% of working women’s said that the risk & safety is the important factor that they considered before investing


29.33% of the respondents said that life insurance is important avenues for them.
19.33% of the respondent said that they manage their investment among themselves. 40.67% of the women respondent said that their trading experience is 1-4 years. 30.67% of the respondent said that they have limited knowledge investments.
