Keller, Beverly Amazon Papers BR 11403 Fifteen-year-old Iris gets a lot of grief from her aunt and mother for spending too much time on philosophy and sports and none on social life. When left alone with her cousin's small boys while her mother is on vacation, Iris develops a crush on an older guy that leads to disaster--including ruining her mother's car. For junior and senior readers. Land, Jon Hope Mountain BR 12156 Jen feels guilty that a traffic accident led to the loss of her teenage brother's leg. At an adaptive ski school, they meet instructor Jamie Brooks, who was a champion until an injury sidelined his career. Matt learns quickly and challenges Jamie to ski a dangerous trail. Lipman, Elinor The Inn at Lake Devine RC 48606 A romantic comedy set in the 1960's. As a child of twelve, Natalie is offended when her Jewish family is told by a Vermont innkeeper that their most "comfortable" guests are Gentiles. Over the years, she develops various schemes to infiltrate the resort, and eventually she spends a weekend with the owner's son. 1998. Many, Paul These Are The Rules RC 46949 Colm, who will be a senior next year, is spending the summer at his family's lakeside cottage with his mother and twin siblings. His father is staying in town now that he has left Colm's mother. Colm expects to be bored, yet he learns to drive, attempts to swim across the lake, and finds himself pondering the mystery of girls. For senior high readers. McDonald, Joyce Swallowing Stones RC 46596 On the fourth of July and his seventeenth birthday, Michael fires his

new rifle into the air, unintentionally killing a man who is a mile away, repairing his roof. Miklowitz, Gloria D. Past Forgiving BR 11266 Fifteen-year-old Alexandra can't believe popular senior Cliff is her boyfriend. Olson, Gretchen Joyride BR 11796 When Jeff McKenzie and a friend take a joy ride through a farmer's bean field one night, Jeff has no idea he will spend the summer in a strawberry field. He had planned to play tennis, but this is the price he must pay for ruining the farmer's irrigation motor. Jeff learns a lot and is befriended by the farmer's daughter and a farm hand. For junior and senior high readers. Pamuk, Orhan New Life RC 45239 Osman, a Turkish student, is dramatically affected by reading a book. He takes to the road with a fellow student in search of her boyfriend, who has disappeared. The couple travel from town to town by bus pursuing the radiant, but elusive, new life promised in the book. Park, Barbara Beanpole RC 21769 Spitballs, nasty teachers, bothersome mothers, and bullies make seventh

Rubio, Gwyn Hyman Icy Sparks RC 49152 Growing up in the 1950's in a small Kentucky town, Icy realizes that she is different from the other kids. She endures alienation at school and a stay at the state hospital while gradually coming to terms with her disorder, Tourette's Syndrome. Some strong language. 1998. Rutland, Eva A Child's Christmas RC 50739 Eric Archer, ten, attends boarding school because his father is too busy to care for him. Eric's uncle, who lives nearby, supposed to keep an eye on him but seems to forget - until the school counselor calls. Before long, Eric is at the center of an expanding circle of love and friendship. 1997. Salinger, J. D. The Catcher in the Rye RC 47480 / BR 11909 As Christmas vacation begins, Holden Caufield recounts his feelings and reactions to flunking out of Pencey, his third prep school.
